All-On-X Process
The All-On-X Dental Implant Process at MFD
Here is a brief description of some alternatives to the All-On-X that are all available at MFD. If you'd like more information on these alternatives, here is a page that describes all that we offer in detail.
Visit #1 – Your Consultation (Plan For About An Hour)
During this visit we’ll discuss with you all of the tooth replacement options above in addition to the All On X’s option. We’ll also work with you to see if you are a good clinical candidate for All On X’s. During this visit, we’ll describe the total cost as well as the different financing options we have available to you (if needed) to make All On X’s available to you!
Your consultation will help us to identify if you are a good candidate for the All On X’s procedure.
What makes a “good” All On X’s candidate?
You may be someone who has already had all of their teeth extracted, is tired of the traditional dentures you already have, and is looking for a permanent, hassle-free solution in the long term.
A good candidate could also be someone whose mouth is in very poor shape, whether due to bone loss, severe decay, or both.
Or you could be someone who still has all of your teeth but they’re in poor shape and you’re in need of a brand new smile.
Visit #2 – Scan Day (Plan For 1.5 – 2 Hours)
During your trip to the office on scan day, you’ll become a celebrity for a day! We’ll be taking a 3D scan of your jaw, an intraoral scan of both your upper and lower arches, various photographs of your mouth, bite, and smile, and a physical bite impression that will be mailed to the lab.
Each of these different data points will be put together by the lab and our doctors to ultimately design your perfect smile. Sure, you may not be starring alongside The Rock in Fast and Furious 792, but you’ll be a celebrity in our eyes.
During this visit, we’ll also hand you our Long Term Provisional Care Instructions Pamphlet so that you can review and be prepared following surgery.
Visit #3 – Surgery Day (Plan For 4 – 6 Hours)
Your surgery will be scheduled at 8:30 am and last anywhere from 4-6 hours. The time difference will depend on multiple factors but throughout the entire procedure, you will be under conscious IV sedation. While you are experiencing conscious IV sedation, you will neither remember nor feel any pain.
From your perspective, you’ll walk into the treatment room with your teeth as they exist now and you’ll walk out with a completely new smile. From the doctors perspective’s, there will be a few more steps and complexities but here is a quick summary:
- We will extract all remaining teeth on one arch (upper or lower)
- Dr. Fowler will place between 4-6 implants along that arch
- Dr. Monfredi will attach abutments to each of those implants
- We will then attach your brand new Long Term Provisional to those implant-supported abutments
Visit #4 – Post-op Check And Care Instructions (Plan For 45 Minutes)
Following your surgery, we will schedule a post-op check somewhere between 4-7 days out. At this appointment, Dr. Monfredi will evaluate your healing, the overall health of your mouth, as well as the bite of your new denture. She will then make any needed adjustments to make sure you’re set up for success.
We’ll also remind you of the Long Term Provisional Care Instructions Pamphlet you were handed before surgery, most especially not to eat any hard foods (almonds, peanuts, etc.) with this Long Term Provisional denture. We’ll want to let your mouth completely heal before we exchange the provisional denture for the permanent hybrid (see below).
Visit #5 – 4 Week Check-Up, Remove, and Clean (Plan for 1 Hour)
This will be the first time that your Long Term Provisional (LTP) will come out of your mouth since surgery. Dr. Monfredi will remove the LTP to examine the health of your gum tissue and implants. We’ll also clean the LTP as well as the implant sites to make sure we’re promoting excellent oral hygiene in these early stages of your new smile.
Once you’re checked out and cleaned up, Dr. Monfredi will reattach your LTP.
Visit #6 – Scan Day #2 & Preparing for Your Permanent Hybrid (Plan for 1.5 Hours)
4-6 Months following surgery, we’ll have you back in the office to collect updated scans, X-Rays, and pictures so that we can create the perfect-for-you Permanent Hybrid. These updated files are necessary so that we can account for any and all changes (even if they’re ever so small) to make sure that your smile is perfect when you’re done; both structurally and aesthetically.
During this visit, Dr. Fowler will also evaluate your implants to make sure they’re correctly integrated with your bone, and that they’re ready to receive your Permanent Hybrid.
Visit #7 – Exchanging the Long Term Provisional for your Permanent Hybrid (Plan for 1.5 Hours)
This visit will take place somewhere between 4-6 months following your initial surgery, and while you’re in the office, Dr. Monfredi will detach your Long Term Provisional Denture and replace it with your Permanent Hybrid.
After this step, the bulk of your treatment is complete. The only needed appointments now will be for any adjustments that need to be made as well as regular 6-month exams for oral cancer screenings as well as Hybrid maintenance checks.
What if I’m not a good candidate for All On X’s or if the price doesn’t work for my budget?
If for some reason All On X Dentures and the Permanent Hybrid don’t work for you, don’t worry. We have a number of other options available that can be more cost-effective and still get the job done. We have those options highlighted here (Page Coming Soon).
A Recap – Main Benefits of All On X Dentures
- No tooth replacement option provides a well-functioning, clinically sound denture faster
- Your permanent hybrid is made of zirconia rather than acrylic (stronger & more durable)
- The hybrid has a smaller footprint in your mouth (you don’t lose taste by covering your palate)
- The hybrid does not get taken out at night – it is permanently fixed in your mouth
- Your Permanent hybrid will not “rock” or move in your mouth
